Happy Hearts Childcare and Kindergarten Burpengary East partnered with Wearthy to create an outdoor environment as rich and considered as the learning that happens inside — a nature-filled space where children from babies through to preschool age could explore, discover, and connect with the natural world at every stage of their development.
The resulting landscape is one of Wearthy's most garden-like designs: lush, layered, and deeply immersive. Flowing from a calm, sheltered babies yard into an expansive nature garden for older children, the space weaves together timber arbours, native grasses, sandstone gathering spaces, and a striking water play zone to create an environment that feels less like a playground and more like a living, breathing outdoor classroom.
A sandstone block gathering space framed by a timber entry arbour, designed for storytelling, group time, and connection to Country. The circle creates a natural focal point within the garden and invites children to pause, listen, and belong.
Jets of water arc through the air over a curved basin of rocks, logs, and flowing pathways — a sculptural water play zone designed for sensory exploration and open-ended discovery that draws children back again and again.
Abundant planting throughout — sweeping ornamental grasses, flowering shrubs, shade trees, and dense garden corridors — gives the space a botanical garden quality unlike any other. Children move through layers of greenery, discovering textures, sounds, and seasonal change at every turn.
A calm, intimate space designed specifically for the youngest children, with a shaded sandpit, a gentle timber cubby with slide, and enclosed planting that creates a sense of safety and wonder in equal measure.
Timber arbour frames thread throughout the space, framing gateways, retreat spaces, and shaded garden pathways. A fort structure with slide in the older children's yard offers physical challenge within a beautifully naturalistic setting.
