Sanctuary Early Learning Health and Knowledge Precinct engaged Wearthy to design and build an outdoor play environment unlike any other in our portfolio: a multi-level, podium-based playscape set within Proxima, Australia's first commercial health and research facility dedicated to child and family wellbeing. Spanning two storeys within the heart of the building, the space presented a genuinely unique design challenge: creating a rich, nature-connected outdoor environment within an urban, purpose-built structure.
Inclusion sits at the centre of everything at Sanctuary HKP, and it sits at the centre of this design too. The playscape was intentionally crafted to welcome every child, regardless of ability, sensory need, or stage of development, with flexible, thoughtfully considered spaces that reflect Sanctuary's Family Model of Support. Set within the Gold Coast Health and Knowledge Precinct alongside Griffith University, Gold Coast University Hospital, and allied health providers, this is a play environment built not just for children, but for the broader community that surrounds and supports them.
